How to make Indian farming `sexy’ sensing its soul

The adjective ‘Sexy’ meaning excitingly appealing, glamorous as in the description, ’a sexy new car’, the author says, is deliberately used to convey the message that agriculture in India needs a thorough metamorphosis and be more than growing crops. It has to be ‘farming’ and include also flowers, fishes, poultry, livestock, bees, and a lot more to make it the most alluring, modern, aspirational, respected and highly rewarding occupation. A six-step action plan is presented here to make Indian farming sexy and they are: Start respecting the farmer, Co-operatives, collectives and CHCs, “Atmanirbhar” integrated farming, Focus on women and SHGs, Storage up, food inflation down , and Create national recognition platforms.
